    The approved list of contractors

Approved lists are lists of contractors, suppliers and services vetted to the council’s standards and technical capability, including financial, equality and health and safety assessments.

The approved list is used when tendering construction contracts, other than those contracts that fall within the European procurement regulations.

The advantage of being an approved list company gives reassurances to the council that a minimum standard has been met, and saves firms from having to re-apply for contracts to meet that standard.

When your company has been selected to tender for a contract, from an approved list you will be contacted and invited to tender.
    How to apply

If your company would like to apply for a place on the council’s approved list or framework, you are required to go through an application process to verify your suitability and competence.

As part of an ongoing drive to improve efficiency, both council’s have agreed to use the government sponsored single national pre-qualification system ‘Constructionline’ to assist us with this project. To help us to process your application we encourage you to be fully registered with Constructionline for an appropriate work category (ies).

For those who are not yet registered with Constructionline, details can be found on the Constructionline website or telephone 0870 240 0152.

We also recommend that you join CHAS, the Contractors’ Health and Safety Assessment Scheme. CHAS membership means that you have been assessed as meeting health and safety standards to a nationally recognised and accepted threshold which meets Council requirements.Further details being visiting the CHAS website.

If you have any questions regarding Constructionline or CHAS then please contact Nadine Byrne 01724 296778 or Janine Barker 01472 324940
    What happens next?

The council will manage the application process through the Supplier Contract Management System (SCMS). You will need to register your interest in the applicable approved list that your company is interested in. The tables above contain the relevant contract references and titles for each category on SCMS.

When all sections of your business questionnaire have been evaluated and approved, you will receive an email via SCMS to confirm this.

Once your company is on the approved list, your details will be available to staff in the council who let contracts for construction and related works.
