Extra council budget engagement event to be held on Monday, January 23
Come along and talk to a council representative
RESIDENTS in North East Lincolnshire are being given another chance to talk to the borough council about its budget and its priorities at a forthcoming engagement event.
This week, several public discussion events have been held, giving local people the chance to talk with council representatives about how the authority will continue to deliver the community’s priorities while reducing costs.
An extra event has now been organised for the evening of Monday, January 23, to cater for working people who have not had the opportunity to attend daytime engagement sessions.
The additional event will be held at the Doughty Learning Centre, Town Hall Square (near Grimsby Town Hall) from 6pm to 7.30pm. All are welcome to drop in at any time during the event.
Councillor Chris Shaw, leader of North East Lincolnshire Council, said: “The events we’ve had so far have been very useful. Many people have taken the chance to come and talk to us about our priorities and our spending, and we hope this will have helped them to understand our aims and the difficult decisions we face in this increasingly-restrictive financial environment.
“We had received feedback from people who work during office hours that they have been unable to attend the sessions, so we’ve added the extra date to cater for them. So if you have any questions about the budget and how we plan on saving money, please come and see us.”
The council’s cabinet agreed its draft budget for 2012/13 at a meeting on Wednesday, December 21. Members also agreed the draft medium-term financial plan for 2012-15. The budget and the MTFP will go to full council for final approval on Thursday, February 16.
