    Dear Sir/madam

It came to my attention yesterday that you contacted the service provider for my website crazycouncil.co.uk and made a statement that its contains defamatory remarks.

regret to inform you that we consider this website to be defamatory and I set below just some examples
    Firstly
What bunch of monkeys executives run our council
This appears on the home page with a picture of three chimpanzees.
    Secondly
the page headed Local Government ombudsman is particularly defamatory of both existing and past Council officers.

    Finally,
Each page has a header “pointing out the management failings of North East Lincolnshire Council. The whole tone of the website is defamatory of both officers, former officers and councillors.

As your message also suggested that you are going to take legal action unless the defamatory remarks are taken down, please can you identify exactly what you consider defamatory. This is something that you really should have asked me first before threatening a service provider.

To save yo some time I only need you to identify the second two

    Secondly
the page headed Local Government ombudsman is particularly defamatory of both existing and past Council officers.

    Finally,

Each page has a header “pointing out the management failings of North East Lincolnshire Council. The whole tone of the website is defamatory of both officers, former officers and councillors.

As the first one I claim under

    Article 10: Freedom of expression
    1. Everyone has the right of freedom of expression. This right shall include freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart information and ideas without interference by public authority and regardless of frontiers. This Article shall not prevent States from requiring the licensing of broadcasting, television or cinema enterprises.
    2. The exercise of these freedoms, since it carries with it duties and responsibilities, may be subject to such formalities, conditions, restrictions or penalties as are prescribed by law and are necessary in a democratic society, in the interests of national security, territorial integrity or public safety, for the prevention of disorder or crime, for the protection of health or morals, for the protection of the reputation or rights of others, for preventing the disclosure of information received in confidence, or for maintaining the authority and impartiality of the judiciary.

This guarantees the right to pass information to other people and to receive information that other people want to give to you. It also guarantees the right to hold and express opinions and ideas.

Journalists and publishers of newspapers or magazines can use Article 10 to argue there should be no restrictions on what they write about or publish.

I require you to identify everything that’s defamatory, ( it can not be classed as defamatory if its not wrong. ). I also consider it entirely inappropriate to not contact me first. I feel that you have overreached reasonable democratic behaviour by attempting to use the officialdom of you role as lead solicitor and your executive role, to remove material that points to your own mismanagement. I am going to take issue with exactly that point. So please provide me with the what you have identified as defamatory by return, I have removed the LGO page for seven days.

I am asking you to identify exactly what remarks promoted you to contact my service provider.

    And

As the council hold all the records, it would be unacceptable for you not to check if the remarks are defamatory or true, By checking your records.. Obviously, with your senior position, you already have. As I would consider it extremely inappropriate, If you, a senior legal officer of my council has made remarks that you can not legally back up.

I am asking you to provide me this immedealy so I can add it to the documents prepared for the solicitors regulation authority and the DCLG.

    Regards

    George Cant
